A Guilt Free Snowy Sunday

NY Snow

NY Snow

Finally…I can sit guilt free on a Sunday afternoon. Doing nothing but watching reruns of my favorite shows and the flickering of the flames on the electric fireplace. The unexpected snowfall on a lazy Sunday afternoon makes the perfect excuse to do nothing. After all the roads are slippery and you really shouldn’t be driving. Can’t mow, paint, weed, trim, or landscape in the snowy conditions. What else to do but sit and unwind…finally.

I have come to the conclusion that doing nothing is a necessary part of recharging the batteries. Usually though it comes with the price of guilty feelings that you really should be doing something. Something a bit more productive than watching a young Bruce Willis save the day in Die Hard 1,2 and 3. Not today though. This is therapy for the sole. Sitting in my favorite oversized chair, looking out the window as the beautiful snowfall slowly coats every surface. A mesmerizing coating of frosty white that only Mother Nature can create.  My attention is drawn back to the TV with an explosion created by Bruce, or should I say John McClane, throwing a bomb strapped to a chair down an elevator shaft. Good stuff! Totally unrealistic and requires no brain processing power to understand. The perfect movie to recharge on.

Eventually though, as the snow accumulates, I decide it’s much to beautiful of a day to not enjoy the great outdoors a bit. I already have my Woolx on so it’s a quick gearing up and out the door I go. Something about a fresh NY snow that melts the stress away.

As I start down the walk mine are the first prints. The Snow creates a calming, quiet, environment and seems to muffle the everyday noise. All I can hear is the heavy snow hitting the leaveless trees and the top of my hat. The cool air feels good and refreshes the senses. It’s all quiet…not another sole to be seen. Eventually I end up walking much farther than I had planned. But why not…my Woolx has me as comfy as I was sitting in my chair and who knows when Sunday and the next perfect Snow will come together again. Finally the light begins to fade so I decide it’s time to get back to doing nothing.

I shake the snow off my gear, leave the shoes on the porch, and head back to my oversized chair just in time to see Bruce finish off the last bad guy. I stare out the window as the snow continues to fall and darkness sets in. Back to work and reality tomorrow. Not to fret yet though. I still have several hours and a couple more Die Hard movies to watch. That should be quite enough of doing nothing to get my charge meter to 100%.
