It’s that time of year again. Time to set the clocks a hour ahead. Most dread this based on the thought of losing a hour of sleep. However, there can be benefits of daylight savings time.
Daylight Savings Time
One beneficial benefit is your health. The most important thing. It stays light outside a little longer now. Which means more outdoor fun and exercise. You get to get off that boring treadmill that you’ve been on all winter and take your run outdoors. You get to slip back into your favorite midweight Woolx. Fresh air and some vitamin d can really boost you up. Peel yourself off that couch and grab your canine and go for a nice walk after dinner now.
Energy consumption is lower now. You finally will be able to give your furnace a little break soon. Or even your electric. You wont have to turn on your lights in the home at 430 pm anymore. Energy saved equals money saved.
Many people view DST as a time to start your spring cleaning list. It’s a great time of the year to remember to change out the batteries in the smoke detectors. Windows, dusting, vacuuming behind that couch, and clearing out your landscaping from a long winter.
Recharge a new you. Dust yourself off. You might have become rusty over the long months. DST is a great time to remember to pamper yourself. New haircut, new spring wardrobe, new exercise regimen. You can restart your morning rituals. Change things up in the morning before work. Getting up a hour early to have a fresh start to the day.
And of course who isn’t thankful for longer daylight hours for grilling! The bbq season soons starts up again. Wheel out your grill from hibernation and fire it up. In just a couple short months you will be eating your bbq outside on the patio soaking up the rays. Your waist line will also benefit from this. Grilling is a healthier way of cooking.
So this year, try to not think daylight savings time is just a bummer soley based on your sleep. Think of all the good things to come and of the warmer weather just around the corner.
