Newtown Battlefield State Park NY…Winter Hike With Woolx. Video Post.

This weekend I visited a very nice State Park in the Finger Lakes Region of NY. Newtown Battlefield State Park. Also known as Newtown Battlefield Reservation. This is a gorgeous park in the summer with a lot of history behind it. I had never been up in the Winter so I donned my Woolx Midweight Merino Wool Underwear on a sleety Saturday afternoon and hiked up in. Here is a video showing Newtown Battlefield Reservation in the Winter. I’ll post some history on the park as well as directions after the video.

I love going to these places in the off season. The lack of activity and absence of people brings a whole new perspective on these locations. You are free to explore and investigate freely without the fear of being in someones way. Add to this the raw beauty of winter and you see these locations in a different light.

The Newtown Battlefield Reservation is on the National Register of Historic Places. On August 29th, 1779 the decisive clash in the Sullivan-Clinton campaign was fought here. Here are some links to learn more about this important part of American History:

Great Map Of The Area With Markers

I highly recommend if you are in the area to first read a bit on the historical signifigance of the area and then visit the park. It’s minutes off of I86 and worth the stop. View the map below and get directions. For directions just click on the marker then click on directions:

I hope you enjoyed this weeks post. I sure enjoyed making the video and the day of exploring the park in the winter. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and enjoy the below pictures of Newtown Battlefield State Park in the winter.
