Woolx in Action Team Member of the Month –

Woolx scoured the globe searching for intrepid adventurers to test out Woolx gear in the most extreme conditions, we’ve assembled this group of globetrotting daredevils into the #WoolxinAction team! Every month Woolx Life will feature one of our amazing Woolx in Action team members – Meet August’s team member of the month Anietra Hamper!

After working as a television news Anchor for nearly 20 years, Anietra traded in long hours, breaking news and investigative stories for a way to live her life pursuing her passion for travel and outdoor adventure.

She runs a corporate content writing and travel writing company called ThreeWordPress. When Anietra’s not writing marketing content for websites or ghostwriting blogs, she’s an award-winning travel writer and member of the Society of American Travel Writers covering outdoor adventure and extreme fishing for many publications.

We asked Anietra to fill out the official “WoolxinAction Questionnaire” so we could delve deeper into the mind of an extreme brand ambassador.

Woolx in Action Profile  – Anietra Hamper:

Favorite Woolx product?

Brooke ¼ zip – love it’s versatility!

Where would you live if it could be anywhere in the world?

If being mobile were easy – that would be my choice. Every place has its own reason for me to want to stay forever.

What’s on your bucket list, any big adventures that you dream of undertaking?

I am living them, but I continue to up the ante with fishing and adventure. I believe in living your “someday” now – letting your greatest dreams guide you versus hoping you might someday get around to enjoying the things that inspire you and make you passionate.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep and why?

An all night stakeout in a neighborhood where a murderer was on the run while I was working in television news. Otherwise, I cherish my regular 8 hours.

What’s your favorite outdoor memory?

Fishing with my grandpa

What’s your favorite food, or the best meal you’ve ever had?

  • Tomahawk Steak – Ember Grille & Wine Bar in L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, LA
  • Fried Green Tomato BLT with bacon avocado – Old Mill Pottery House Café in Pigeon Forge, TN
  • Jackfruit – Asia
  • Fresh Calamari – Philippines
  • Ice cream from anywhere and everywhere!

Do you have a nickname?

Neeter (from college)

What’s the scariest moment you’ve had outdoors?

On an excursion from hell in the remote tribal northern region in jungles of Thailand riding on the back of an elephant managed by a mahout with a machete and NO English skills. The elephant kept leaning over the side of the cliffs (with me on it’s back) to snack on tree branches while I stared thousands of feet to nothing but rocks below me, held in literally a thin string for a “seatbelt.” That awful trek was only topped by the tribesmen going to get their shaman to cure my travel companion of the terrible back pain we made up as an escape plan to get out of there the next day. The only time I’ve ever whispered an “if I die” video into my camera!

If your life had a soundtrack what songs would be on it?

  • Keep on Smilin’
  • On the Road Again
  • Circle of Life

Do you have a favorite animal?

My dog Sunny

What motivates you to keep going when the going gets tough?

The knowledge that this is just a moment and not forever, even though it sometimes feels that way…and my family

Do you have a guilty pleasure?

Chocolate Moonshine!!!! From a tiny craft distillery called Old Forge Distillery in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. You can only get it there.

Is there anything that you’ve never done but would like to try?

Definitely the Zorb in New Zealand! Maybe, the Zorb with water!

What is your favorite time of year and why?

Fall – I love the nostalgic smells, mulled cider, changing leaves and just enough chill in the air. Fall is comfort for all the senses!

Do you have a personal hero, or heroes who inspire you?

I am most inspired by getting to know everyday people. I’ve met and interviewed many celebrities and high profile figures over the years, but the ones who really inspire me, are rarely those people. Every person has a unique journey and every person fights a struggle that no one knows about and it’s those revelations in someone new who I’m getting to know that inspire me the most.
