16 Questions w/ Woolx:
What inspired you to become an outdoor adventurer, did you grow up participating in a lot of outdoor activities with your family, or is it something you were drawn to on your own later?
-When I was younger my family and I used to go camping a lot. I always remember being told “It’s time to come inside” and me trying to fight it to stay out as long as possible. My more serious adventures was inspired from a friend. I caught the bug for the outdoors and it hasn’t since left me!
Do you have any special plans, or trips in the works for 2016? Any big long term goals?
– I am actually headed off to Costa Rica at the end of May! First time there and I am very excited to be travelling with a group of people I have never met! There will be tons of adventures! Hiking, horseback rides, zip lining, white water rafting…a little bit of everything! I just took over a business recently, and a long term goal is to find more balance with work and play! Or…work more so that I can play more.
Our ambassadors come from all over the U.S., and we’ve got a few international team members too! What’s your favorite local activity, or the best part about exploring the region you call home?
– Hiking and Snowboarding! You can never tire of the North Cascades!
Stopping for a second to peel off some layers on this bluebird day!
What’s your most embarrassing moment outdoors, or your favorite epic fail memory?
– Oh man…hard to pick one! A few of my friends went on a hike around Mount Baker. Round trip we probably did 13-14miles. We were on our way back, about 3 miles in and I step on a loose rock and quickly slip and bend my knee faster than it should have been. Everything was fine, a little pain. But the more I walked on it the more it hurt. I ended up getting piggy backed on and off for 2 miles or so. Turns out it hurt my knee not walking on it, and I gimped back to the car like an idiot. Everyone was so nice asking if I needed anything on the trail-but I didn’t even have a cool story for the injury!
What is your most often worn, go-to Woolx item?
–1/4 zip, and the Tunic! Also, since the weather has been getting warmer the tanks have been super nice!
Do you prefer solo activities, or do you like having partners on your adventures?
-A little of both actually. I like to do solo day hikes, but in the winter I like boarding with a group of friends!
Do you have a personal motto, or words you live by?
“Never half ass two things. Whole ass one thing!” -Ron Swanson
Having some fun in Leavenworth after a day of Boarding!
Pizza or tacos?
– a taco pizza? Tacos if I had to pick!
Summer or winter?
Mountains or coastline?
Are you inspired by any of your fellow Woolx in Action team members? If so who?
Alex Borsuk! She is the gal I mentioned earlier about reigniting that adventure!
What place do you find yourself going back to over and over again? What place would you love to visit that you’ve never seen?
Stepping outside to get a glance at Mission Ridge to check out the weather for the morning.
Anywhere around Mount Baker. Specifically a hike called “Yellow Aster Butte”
What’s your favorite outdoor/adventure themed movie?
Oh man, so many good ones! Into the Wild, Little Miss Sunshine, The Darjeeling Limited…Ican’t choose!
If you could be any animal for a week, which animal would you choose?
What one item could you not live without (apart from your Woolx of course)?
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
To always be kind to others, and to find what makes you happy and do it!
